This course enables technical and scientific staff from industry, research institutions, testing laboratories, universities, or government agencies to independently operate a scanning electron microscope (SEM) and a micro-analysis system (EDX/WDX) in theory and practice. Participants will learn to optimally apply scanning electron microscopy and micro-analysis to their own research questions, image samples using the various signals (e.g., SE, RE) of a scanning electron microscope, perform qualitative and quantitative elemental analyses, and interpret and critically evaluate their own results. Different preparation methods and coating options will also be presented and practiced.
